I’ll admit it. My microwave and I are best friends.

Not only do I go for the microwave meals, but I often have leftovers when I do decide to make a fresh home-cooked dish. Often times, that means reheating food for days afterward. Even though it doesn’t quite taste the same, it usually gets the job done.

What I didn’t know is that some of the foods I reheat on a regular basis can actually become toxic when heated in the microwave. This is essential information for anyone who cooks at home.

1. Celery has nitrates that can turn into carcinogenic (cancer-causing) nitrosamines after reheating in the microwave.

2. Don’t put that leftover breakfast in the microwave; instead, toss eggs into a salad or sandwich for a cold and healthy way to reuse them.

Everyone wants to be fit and healthy, whether they care to admit it or not. One of the main reasons why people want to get in shape, lose weight, or get healthier is to make life a little easier for themselves and the people they love. 2. Squats

Having strong legs means that you can hold yourself (and possibly your partner) up for long periods of time. Squats work the glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves.

3. Bridges

Bridges are great for opening up your hips. Having stiff hips isn’t conducive to having awesome sex, so you’ll want to make sure that they are free and open. Bridges will also work your calves, glutes, and abs.

4. Stability Ball Crunches

This exercise is a core-training staple. If you do some crunches while balancing on a large ball like this, you’ll be able to work your abs, obliques, and even the muscles in your back. You’ll be stable and ready for anything if you improve your core.

5. Lunges

Lunges work your quads, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. They also open up your hip flexors, and we already know why that’s a big deal.

6. Straddles

This is more of a stretch than an exercise, but you can’t beat strengthening your lower back and loosening up your hips at the same time.

7. Back Bends

Back bends improve flexibility in your back, but they also work out your shoulders, glutes, wrists, and ankles. Those last few joints go overlooked sometimes, but trust me, you’ll want to keep your wrists and ankles flexible.

8. Inchworms

These loosen up your entire body and help improve overall flexibility over time.

9. V-Sits

This move requires a lot of power in your hips and core muscles, but if you can perform v-sits, it will vastly improve your sex life.

10. Plié Squats

This version is a simple spin on the old standby that will target your hips and glutes in a totally new way.

11. Planks

Planks are essential to any core exercise routine. It’s important for you to be able to hold yourself up while having sex, and this exercise will help you do that.

12. Reclined Butterfly

While this is also a stretch, it is essential for improving hip flexibility and strength.

13. Lying Leg Raises

These are great for improving core strength and stability.

14. Hollow Body Hold

This hold will work your core and hips incredibly hard while stretching out your back, which is often injured during sex.

1. Whip up a hot toddy.

If you’re part of the over-21 crowd, this piping-hot mixture of tea, honey, and a little bit of booze can work wonders. Brew your favorite herbal tea, add a teaspoon of honey to the mix, and throw in a shot of your favorite whiskey or bourbon. Beyond that, all you’ll need to do is hunker down on the couch, turn yourself into a blanket burrito, and binge-watch your life away. This concoction will take care of any soothing or decongesting that you might need.

2. Sleep with wet socks on.

This might seem like a comically bad idea, but sleeping with wet socks on can actually help ease fevers and relieve decongestion by drawing blood to the feet. First, warm your feet with hot water, and then dip a pair of cotton socks in cold water. Put some dry wool socks on over the wet ones, and go to sleep. By the time you wake up, the socks will be dry, and you’ll feel better.

3. Whip out the frozen peas.

This one’s pretty straightforward. Use a bag of frozen peas as an ice pack and apply it to your sinuses to relieve pain and pressure. Doing this is much less awkward than fumbling with a baggie full of ice cubes.

4. Gargle saltwater.

Gargling saltwater helps loosen up mucus, relieve pain, and fight bacteria. You could also make this part of your daily routine when you’re healthy, since it can help prevent future respiratory infections.

5. Make some lemonade.

Even though summer is long gone, enjoying a glass of lemonade while you’re sick can help detoxify your body, aid in digestion, and drive away cold and flu symptoms. Add two to three teaspoons of honey to your mixture of lemon juice, water, and lemon slices. Whisk it all together and enjoy!

6. Dab some VapoRub under your nose.

Instead of slathering this all over your chest, try dabbing a small amount just under your nose. It’ll help you breathe more easily, and it can even impart a numbing effect on noses that have been rubbed raw by tissues.

7. Indulge in a hot shower.

It’s common knowledge that steam can help decongest, so get your butt off the couch and hop in the shower. If you don’t want to dive all the way in, fill a bowl with hot water, drape a towel over your head, lean over the bowl, and breathe deeply through your nose for 10 minutes.

8. Take (or eat) plenty of vitamins.

Everyone knows that vitamin C intake is key in fighting colds, so taking supplements and eating foods that are rich in vitamin C is a good idea. A few more that you should stock up on are foods and supplements that contain omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, ginseng, and zinc.

9. Prop your head up.

Even if you’re not into sleeping with a ton of pillows, elevating your head can do wonders when you’re battling the flu. You want to keep fluids from running back into your sinuses, so elevation will keep things moving in the right direction.

10. Grab yourself a neti pot.

More fluids in your nose might be the last thing you want, but using a neti pot to drain sinuses can be extremely helpful. Mix a pinch of salt and a pinch of baking soda into eight ounces of water. Hold one nostril closed while tipping your head and pouring some liquid into the other nostril. Release, let the fluid drain, and repeat on the other side.

11. Stuff your face (with the good stuff).

I get it. Eating a dozen donuts while watching four seasons of your favorite show seems really appealing when you feel like garbage. What you should be eating, however, is a bunch of healthy foods like blueberries, bananas, brown rice, bell peppers, onions, and mustard (separately, of course). White foods like sugar, dairy, and starch can actually suppress immune function, making you stay sick for even longer.

You can perform these 16 exercises without any equipment. In fact, you don’t even need weights… all you need is yourself.

5.) Desk Push Up – Chest, Triceps, Core

10.) Tricep Extensions – Triceps (can use any object, it doesn’t need to be a kettlebell)

I broke a sweat just writing this post.

Modern medicine is great, but sometimes your problems can be more easily solved using things you already have around the house. Granted, if you need antibiotics you should probably head to the pharmacy and pick up some penicillin. However, if you have some weird stains you need to remove or if you have smelly feet? Save yourself a trip to the store and instead use these remedies you probably already own.

1.) Foot odor.

Have stinky feet? Then wipe them down with vodka to get rid of the smell. It’s weird, but it works. (In fact, vodka can remove a smelly scent from many surfaces and materials.)

2.) Headaches.

Fight back against that nasty headache by putting a pencil in your mouth. It prevents you from subconsciously clenching your jaw when you’re stressed, thus preventing more headaches.

3.) Blisters.

While Listerine is meant for teeth, it can also be very helpful for blisters. Just dab the area three times a day with Listerine until it no longer hurts.

4.) Foot aches.

Give yourself a free foot massage by rolling each foot over a tennis ball. You can also use a tennis ball to relieve back pain by placing it between you and a wall, then pressing up against it. 

5.) Hiccups.

Looking to stop hiccups dead in their tracks? Swallow a teaspoon of dry sugar and it can stop the hiccups in minutes.

6.) Motion Sickness.

Part of what contributes to motion sickness is the production of excess saliva. Eating olives or sucking on a lemon can dry your mouth out and help with queasy feeling.

7.) Better Teeth.

Fruits and vegetables that you have to bite into act as sort of toothbrushes as you eat them. Apples in particular are great for this. They also have an enzyme that helps to naturally clean teeth. (That apple-a-day thing is apparently solid advice.)

8.) Clear Skin.

It may sound weird, but smash a tomato and then spread the pulp on your face. Let it sit for an hour. Then wash it offer with tepid water. This a great cure for oily skin. 

9.) Warts. 

A new studying found that duct tape is exceedingly good at getting ride of warts. Just take a piece and cover the wart with it. Every three days file down the dead skin and replace the tape. Your wart will be gone in no time. 

10.) Killer commutes.

According to recent studies, chewing peppermint or cinnamon gum improves your perception of your daily commute. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it beats sitting there in traffic cursing the world.  

11.) Disinfect Cuts.

Sprinkling powdered cloves on a cut can prevent it from becoming infected. If that wasn’t enough, clove powder can also kill some of the pain.

By the time Animal Protection Organization came to his rescue last September, the dog known as Bohlina was so obese that he could hardly move. Every breath was a struggle for the desperate animal.

Bohlina the dog had lived his whole life in squalid conditions behind a remote gas station. With no human or animal companionship, his only comfort was food.

When the Animal Protection Organization arrived, it was clear that he was desperate for affection.

At 80 pounds, however, Bohlina was having trouble breathing and walking. Without a serious lifestyle change, he would surely die.
